mysql> SET GLOBAL general_log = 'ON';
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.16 sec)

mysql> use mysql

You can turn off this feature to get a quicker startup with -A

mysql>  select * from mysql.general_log order by event_time desc limit 10;

mysql> delete from mysql.general_log;
ERROR 1556 (HY000): You can't use locks with log tables.

mysql> truncate table mysql.general_log;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.05 sec)
